🌿 MONSTERA CARE GUIDE
(Monstera deliciosa & similar aroids)
1️⃣ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal.
Tolerates medium light but growth slows.
Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun (can scorch leaves).
More light = bigger leaves + more fenestrations.
Pro tip: Rotate plant weekly for even growth.
2️⃣ Watering
Water thoroughly when top 2–3 inches of soil are dry.
Typically every 7–14 days depending on season.
Reduce watering in winter.
Never let it sit in water. Drainage is non-negotiable.
3️⃣ Soil
Use chunky, well-draining mix:
Potting soil
Orchid bark
Perlite
Optional: horticultural charcoal
Monstera roots like airflow — think jungle floor, not mud.
4️⃣ Humidity
Prefers 50–70% humidity.
Can tolerate normal home levels.
Benefits from:
Humidifier
Pebble tray
Grouped plants
5️⃣ Feeding
Fertilize every 4 weeks in spring & summer.
Use balanced liquid fertilizer (½ strength).
Skip feeding in winter.
6️⃣ Support (Important!)
Monstera are climbers.
Add a moss pole or stake.
Train aerial roots into pole.
Leaves grow larger when climbing.
7️⃣ Repotting
Every 1–2 years.
Increase pot size 1–2 inches.
If roots circle heavily or come out bottom → time to upgrade.
8️⃣ Pruning & Propagation
Cut below a node.
Each cutting must have a node.
Root in water, moss, or chunky mix.
Change water weekly if water propagating.
